BEST words EVER - "This case has been closed."

It is not the "he's yours" that most adoptive parents hear while sitting in the judges chambers in Ethiopia as she grants the adoption order, but reading the words "this case has been closed" sounds just as beautiful to us.

We received Seth's printed adoption order this week. It is the most beautiful piece of paper I have ever seen. After I read it I became overwhelmed with a surge of unexpected emotions. Seeing these words makes everything SO real. I finally feel more excitement than anxiety for the first time in a very long while.

Seth IS our son and he IS coming home. Right? (well, still always a little guarded)

We are still waiting to receive Seth's birth certificate and passport, which we have been told takes up to three weeks after court. Once we have these documents they will be sent to Nairobi, Kenya to the Canadian High Commissioner's Office and they will process his travel visa. We are being told that visas are taking anywhere from 2-6 months. We really want him home for his 2nd birthday at the end of May - we will wait and see.

Not going to lie, the title of your post scared the daylights out of me! But I'm so happy that you have your order now. I hope the rest of the process is super speedy for you guys! It's so nice to see that there's a light at the end of your tunnel!xo

Ditto waht Joan said! I gasped when I read it, thinking something awful had happened. Thank goodness it's the opposite!

Are you going PRV? That's what we chose, so I am interested when you talk about the steps as IA has never really said what was involved to us. I guess once we get a referral and pass court, we may be 'allowed' to ask whoever is in charge when that happens.

Here's to speedy news so you can bring him home for that 2nd birthday!

Sorry ladies, I didn't mean to cause alarm - I change the title so it was more obvious that it IS all good news.

Claire, we are going CIT. I think the only difference for you is that you need a medical, I think everything else is the same.

One more step towards the paperwork for the visa is a very good thing.

We went CIT too and never regretted it.

Laura, Chad, Sara and Seth...
I have been following closely through your sister and just wanted to express my happiness for your family. How truly joyous that a child can be joined with his family and encounter all the opportunity and love that you (including extended family) have to offer. Congrats..
