Weekends and Weekdays re Adoption

Weekdays are "business as usual" for everyone in the adoption world, this includes Imagine (who will process our referral), our provincial government (who will be the first to receive our referral from Imagine and approve), and our adoption agency (who will be calling ME about our referral). Weekends mean that everything shuts down and all is at a stand still until the weekend ends.

Weekdays mean that every time my phone rings, I jump - and when the caller is "unknown", my heart stops for a moment. When I see a voice message on my phone, I panic. And my cell phone is always fully charged before I go out. Weekends mean when the phone rings, I don't really care and most often, I even let Chad answer the phone. And if I leave my cell phone at home when I am out - no big deal.

Weekdays I check the forum and my email regularly, to see if any new referrals have come through. Weekends, well, who am I kidding, I still check everything just as often - you never know, maybe there will be a late referral announcement. The only difference is that on the weekends, I don't have the 'work guilt' when checking.

Bottom line, whether it is a weekday or a weekend, morning, noon, or night, waiting SUCKS!!!

You are too right my friend. Those are my sentiments exactly. One of these weekdays the call will come and the weekend will be for celebrating every waking minute of the day. Wish we were closer to celebrate together when the time comes.

This has been an especially hard week with no referals so far. I can't beleive the effect it has on me.

so wish there was something we could do to make this waiting NOT SUCK. I think the closer we get the more it sucks. Don't give up, keep checking cause soon it will be the real thing.

Yes it does suck!
I also check email on the weekend almost as often as during the week in hopes of an announcement of a referral.
Sigh. At least we all have each other to get through the wait. :)

You hit the nail on the head again Laura! I totally view my weekdays and weekends the same way. I am trying this week to be more "in the moment" and not constantly on the computer, it isn't working too well;( Take care,

Laura in Saskatoon

I remember hating weekends near the end of our wait, and just LOVING monday mornings! So crazy. Only us adoptive moms can probably say that.

And it's Friday again... I was hoping for good news for you before I left...now I'll hope to see happy news upon my return!

Can't believe it, but it really is going to happen. And one day, you too will be off to your baby!

I so remember the weekend, weekday thing. I never knew which was worse because the weekdays were agony in a way but then on the weekends, there wasn't even hope of a call so they were both just torture. Hang in there!

Okay, so it is Friday the 26th... last week-day in february. I'm secretly hoping and praying that you got the call today and you just haven't had time to post yet! But perhaps that is not the case. Just know I'm thinking of you and if you didn't get the call today, I'm sure it will be coming when the IA staff return from Addis. Perhaps they were personally matching you with your child!
Can't wait for your referral post Laura!
