F#%@ Buckets!!! Always a glitch. Always a problem. Always a catch. Always a delay. Always something. Always. Always. Always.
We have just been informed that we will NOT pass court on November 5, 2010. WHY? Let me explain...
So here is the deal, our agency is in the middle of renewing their licence with the Ontario Government - a formality that happens annually. We have been told that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in Ethiopia will not provide the support letter for a family until this licence has been renewed. We can still make our appearance in court next week (thank goodness), but the adoption order will not be granted until the judge receives the support letter.
What this means for us next week...
I will (only) observe Seth prior to court, but will not have a visit with him after court. I am going to plead and beg to get at least couple pictures at the observation, even though technically we are not allowed.
And another kicker...We will be assigned another court date (after I am home) and the judge will grant the adoption order during that court date when the letter is present. However, it is very possible that our original court date of Dec 7 will remain as this new court date, which puts us no further ahead than before.
The bright side, cuz I have to look for one right now...
* At least we know now. No surprises on the day of court. It is what it is.
* If we knew this information on Monday, when our court date changed (BTW, we had a choice to keep our Dec 7th date), we would have still chosen to go next week.
* I will not have to say goodbye to him.
* The first time I hold Seth, I will be with my family - Chad, Sara, me, and our boy, all together.

This just sucks! I can only imagine how much $ you spent this week rebooking your flights and you won't even get to hold him? Well, I have gotten to know you and you are a very strong and persistent woman. I think you'll be able to at least get photos...it just isn't fair! I'm glad you are keeping positive about it. Have a good trip!
I am very sorry for you....
So sorry Laura. I does seem that we can never really celebrate. You never know what could happen. I'm glad that you can find a few positives about this all.
Boooooo.
This sucks Laura! I was so happy to hear you could attend court so much sooner but it sucks you will not get your one on one time with Seth. I hope you are able to get a few pics and enjoy your time in Ethiopia regardless of the roadblocks.
I hear you...it is always something. A person doesn't dare get excited, or hopeful, because it is too dangerous when the dissappointment follows. I hope you enjoy your experience though. Getting to see him as more than "just a picture" is great...even if you can't cuddle.
Man, I'm so sorry to hear this Laura. You are so amazing for keeping such a positive attitude and being so strong.
thinking of you.
always something is right. no words...except a few expletives.
Sorry Laura, this sucks but at least you know now and not when you are there and expecting to hold your boy after! And you never know maybe it will come before court, i will keep my fingers crossed for that one.
Have a safe trip and sneak some picture in there!!!
Oh Laura! Seriously!!!
This is awful!
How did they not know this before hand and get on it!!!
Thinking of you my friend!
Big Hug,
Rana
Well..............
So glad your bright side looks like it is winning the race.
Oh laura what a high of a closer court date and then ........ The crash of the news. My heart stopped when I read the court update and had not even put the parts together of what it would do to the after court visit.
I am so sorry as really how much can a heart take. What a crazy distance to go and not to have the visit you had pictured.
I am still happy you can stand up in front of the judge and answer with all your heart that YES you are ready for the wonderful baby.
I am also happy that they are keeping the court dates so at least this is a good sign that things are moving.
More than anything I am so sorry for this latest ....what do you call this ......Shock I guess.
Lots of love your way
Pack those bags baby , Go tell that judge what you think , Safe travels thinking of you
