8 Months

Until recently, reaching the eight month mark would mean HUGE referral news very soon. But, the big news these days is really nothing new at all...more delays. We are now looking at 11-12 months for our referral. This will give us a late spring/early summer referral, which means that we will likely not make it through court before it closes in August (until October), which also means that we will not be traveling until 2010. OMG, that is soooooo scary to think about right now.

I NEED to think about other things. Things that are more concrete and more fun. So, over the next few months these are the days I will be counting down to:

March 5: My 35 birthday - yikes!
April 9: New Kids on the Block concert...and I can hardly wait to see my dreamy teen crushes again - "oh oh oh oh oh, just hangin' tough" - oh yah, you know what I'm talkin' about.
May 15: Chad and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary - double yikes! Big plans for that, massage in the afternoon, dinner in the evening, hotel that night, and fancy brunch the next morning...
June 21: Manitoba Marathon. I have started training for the FULL marathon (26 miles). I have ran a few 1/2 marathons, but never the dreaded full - hopefully my knees cooperate. I told myself a long time ago that in my lifetime I would run a full marathon at least once. And this year IS the year. Can't think of a better distraction then that.
June 28: Sara turns 5-years-old - my baby girl starts kindergarten in the fall (not so baby anymore) - triple yikes!

That is as far as I am going, because after the last date we are past our 1 year waiting mark - I just can't go beyond that yet.

8 mths, something I can only dream of right now... congrats, it's still a huge milestone and still needs to be celebrated. You will never have the 8 mth mark again.

PS..i'm soooo jealous of the NKOTB concert, I was a die hard fan.

Have a great day,

Wow...11 to 12 months is now the estimated wait? Well the eight month mark looks pretty good because you're past the 1/2 way point - congratulations! You have lots to look forward to this year. Best wishes with the marathon training (very admirable) :-)

We just hit the 11 mo mark.... but with CAFAC they say is is more like a 15 mo wait.... SO FRUSTRATING. I honestly don't know how we have made it to 11 months... Here's hoping for referrals SOON!!!!!

I will be away on your birthday so - Happy Early Birthday to you!!!

Take all that frustration and thoughts of 2010 travel (ugh!) and put it into the marathon - you go girl!

8 months- you've made it! I so don't like how as soon as you get close, they pull the end away and the times extend...
And, I'll let you know that I just hit the 35 on Saturday and I am doing ok... even admitted it was 35 instead of the usual "I "turned" 29..." And my baby-as-of-now turned 5 today (and also starts kindergarten in the fall). YOu cna do it. I'm cheering for you!

My "you've made it" comment looks a little more cherry on here then you're probably feeling... But you have survived this far and I'm here cheering you onward...

More than halfway there. I have a similar list of things to look forward to as we move closer to the 10 months waiting for referral... My girls turn 5 & 6 this spring, our 10th anniversary, and a wonderful trip to the North Pole New York early summer!!

It is a milestone to be at 8 months, celebrate, eat some cake, pray, and enjoy the now.

Having things to look forward to is a help for sure. I would say that training for a marathon would be very much a distraction!!! I am in awe of athletic, motivated types!

Congrats on reaching 8 mths, although I am sure it doesn't feel like a "congratulations" milestone.

But also congrats on training for the marathon. I too have run a few half marathons, and have always said I want to do a full one. I know now is when I should be training, before kids. But I cannot seem to get the motiviation to commit myself to that much time!
